Overview
Basic Understanding of Civil Servants
IIPA is preparing youth for nation building through
Civil Services examination and selection. The readiness for exam require both
technical skills and human skills but also require conceptual skill to have big
picture in mind. The syllabus is designed to test your basic understanding and
not your depth of knowledge. You can succeed if you understand the basics
first
- Civilisation-oriented ( History Geography Culture
and Constitution) A sense of civilisation broadly encompassing history-
liquid modernity , geography- social geography and horizontal inequality,
culture - traditions and beliefs understood in a constitutional democratic
set up is a challenge. Preamble needs understanding as it captures a sense
of all these relative deprivations and the grand vision to move
forward. Virtue is
knowledge.
- Modernity-oriented ( science and technology new research
and discoveries modern trends and thoughts ) Modernity is all about
questioning the status quo why thing are the way they are ? Golden
Circle-Why How and What require Toolsets Mindset’s and Skillsets of
population-scale. Quest for scientific temper in our tryst with destiny
require solution-mindset. A move away from “fixed mindset to growth
mindset for creative problem solving - a change agent or agent of change
but “be the change what you want to see.
- Administration-oriented (Policy Matters - domestic
and foreign , Schemes and Initiative, focus on public service delivery -
pitfalls 85:15 debate use of ICT ) The application of knowledge at
grassroot level require behavioural change CanDo Attitude Happy to Help
mindset agility for effectiveness in delivery. Ongoing public policy have
a rationale but not written in stone.
- Character-Oriented ( affirmative action and bias
towards vulnerability, value of integrity openness to ideas empathy
humility and fairness etc) Words become habits , habits become character
and can’t be masked for long. It require extensive reading for self
motivation reflection and creativity and mindfulness for being self
aware.
The
interview with stalwarts is attempting to amplify their understanding that can
guide you. its you who have to travel the distance. Future is already there its
only unevenly distributed, we at IIPA are trying to bridge this gap through
